Time - Pink Floyd Competition Entry

Time was the first creation by Duck Called Dog made in the summer of 2023. Funded by Kickstarter, the film was a music video for the 50th anniversary release of Pink Floyd’s iconic album ‘The Dark Side of the Moon’ competition. The film aimed to embody the message that time is wasted on the youth and whilst we can try and reverse it, time waits for no-one.

Unfortunately we didn’t win the competition, however we are excited to currently be working with a composer to rework the soundtrack so we can keep this film in the public eye. We also hope to enter ‘Time’ into a festival near you soon!

The Making

Using only recycled or recyclable materials, this film uses the tactile  materiality of stop motion, alongside the more graphical elements of traditional 2D animation.

Despite the film being over 7 minutes long, the stop motion set and animation was made and filmed in under two months. The whole film was finished over 5 months.

The Results

Our work resulted in a multimedia short made and animated around the beat of the music. ‘Time’ was entered into the animation competition in November 2023 on YouTube, where it was viewed by the panel but unfortunately didn’t win. It is now in the hands of Leon Bahar, an amazing composer, who is reworking the music so it can be entered into festivals over 2024/25.
